Overview

Morris Residence Hall, a four-story brick facility on the campus of Alabama A&M University, is being revitalized to provide a modern, comfortable, and technology-forward living environment for students. As one of the University’s key residential buildings, the renovation of Morris Hall reflects Alabama A&M’s continued investment in enhancing student life and supporting academic success through upgraded on-campus housing.

Scope of Work

The renovation encompasses a comprehensive interior and exterior update, including new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, along with improved accessibility, safety, and sustainability features. Interior renovations feature modern finishes, new flooring, energy-efficient lighting, upgraded restrooms, and reconfigured common areas to encourage collaboration and student engagement. Exterior improvements include enhanced landscaping, improved building entryways, and updated façade detailing that complements the architectural style of the surrounding campus.

Design Intent

Designed by Nola Van Peursem Architects, P.C., the project reflects a modern interpretation of Alabama A&M’s traditional campus architecture. The design emphasizes natural light, open social spaces, and durable, high-quality materials that create a welcoming residential atmosphere. The goal is to provide a refreshed environment that fosters community, comfort, and connection among students while reinforcing the University’s historic character.

Furniture & Interior Solutions

Division 12 Consulting partnered with the project team to provide complete FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment) solutions for resident rooms, lounges, study spaces, and common areas. The furnishings balance comfort and durability, incorporating modern designs and flexible configurations that enhance both privacy and collaboration for students.
